On 18th September 2023, in the framework of the European Mobility Week, Genoa Municipality presented their sustainable mobility projects. Local politicians and practitioners discussed improvements in local public transport, such as the extension of the underground network, a new sky metro line and a new electric bus system that will serve the main city lines. The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss soft mobility and its measures for cycling, such as new cycle paths, tactical urbanism, school mobility and urban regeneration.
The WalkUrban project was introduced as one of the soft mobility projects. WalkUrban carried out the analyses on walkability in two neighbourhoods of Genova. The presentation provided the public with the main information on the project, showed preliminary results for the Genovese area and showcased activities implemented in close collaboration with local stakeholders from primary schools and disabled people. The municipality thanked the stakeholders for their contributions in the fieldwork and their feedback on the project process.
